It’s official! I’ll be participating in this year’s Season of Docs where Google helps connect technical writers with open source projects and communities - I’ve teamed up with the GDevelop folks.
I’m gonna write a tutorial about building a game (demo) using the GDevelop game engine - a tool that helps you create HTML5 games without programming. Ewa will help me out by both designing the game and looking at the tool from the non-programmer point of view. We’re going to have the support from the creator, Florian Rival (who became one of the js13kGames 2019 judges too).
The upcoming month is called a community bonding phase, and after that we will have three months to create everything from scratch and document the process. I was quite active writing a few series of (game) tutorials for MDN web docs over the years and I really enjoyed it, so it’s great to be able to get back to writing.
It doesn’t mean I’m gonna stop my 100 Days of Code challenge - I still plan on releasing a few new Enclave Games projects this year, but this sounded like a great opportunity and I didn’t want to miss it.
