I’m happy to announce the book I was helping technically review is finally finished and available to be bought - HTML5 Games: Novice to Ninja witten by Earle Castledine and published by SitePoint.
That was a long and bumpy road for the author, as the whole story started in December 2014, there was a break or two in the meantime, and at some point most of the source code was rewritten from scratch. Nevertheless Earle did an awesome job finishing up the book, and it was a pleasure to do technical review of what he wrote.
Beside Earle, there was also Simon Mackie from SitePoint who was the project manager, and Franco Ponticelli who was a second technical editor. It was a new experience for me - definitely enjoyable. I’ve checked carefully every single page out of 450 the book have (at least twice), and can assure you it’s definitely worth buying. So, go get your copy, now!
There are also a few interesting mentions in the book - a screenshot of Flood Escape game as an example of the intuitive controls on mobile, or my Gamepad API Content Kit, which was the base material created arount the time I wrote a Gamepad API chapter for the book HTML5 Game Development Insights.
Oh, and by the way - five copies of the book are the first announced prizes in the upcoming js13kGames 2018 competition!
